    This review is specifically for the bundle package which includes the kennel and kennel mat. The kennel itself deserves a 5 star rating. I bought a medium sized Dakota 283 G3 kennel for my now 45 lb miniature Goldendoodle and it has been perfect for traveling. I also purchased the extra antimicrobial Dakota Guard coating for the kennel. Additionally, I ended up buying the kennel mat separately for $100. Now, I am getting a new miniature Goldendoodle puppy so I decided to get the package deal for a new kennel and kennel mat. The “new” kennel mat is a complete joke. I can’t add pictures to this review or else I would show you the difference between the “new” kennel mat and the old one I purchased previously. Classic bait and switch. Take my word for it, the “new” kennel mat is smaller (about a 1/2″ thinner and 1″ shorter) and the cover is super cheap and all black and doesn’t have the Dakota brand name on it like the previous version. The previous version was grey and black with the Dakota brand name on it and was much better quality. Granted, even the old version was not worth $100 but the new one is a complete joke. Your dog would be better off without a kennel mat because this “new” kennel mat would provide no padding or comfort for your dog. Save yourself some money and just buy the kennel and then buy a much higher quality kennel mat for less than $50 on Amazon or at your local pet store. Not to mention, when you purchase the bundle package, you can’t select the Dakota Guard antimicrobial coating as an option and it clearly did not come with it in the bundle package. Bottom line, these are excellent kennels but the kennel mat is an absolute joke.

    We purchased the Dakota 283 Starter Package. Dark Granite G3 Series Kennel and a Dakota 283 branded Kennel Mat for our rescue GSP Brodie who just had TPLO – Cruciate Ligament Surgery. We needed to be able to transport him safely to his Veterinarian appointments. His first ride in the crate to get his staples removed went smoothly. It was the first time he didn’t get car sick.
    The crate and mat are perfect for our needs. The crate and mat are well made. The Shipping was fast.

While we have had great success in kenneling aggressive dogs, we are not claiming that we can contain every dog. A good example would be a very aggressive Belgian Malinois. Dog owners know their dogs intimately and should be the person that makes the final determination regarding the use of any product or kennel. We are regularly working on additional products and upgraded designs that will give a higher degree of containment for aggressive breeds.
