I had been looking for and doing research on a good kennel for my Houdini escape artist. I honestly could not have been happier or more satisfied with my Dakota 283 G3 Extra Large kennel purchase. It not only got much better reviews in general in addition to the service dog community than other competitive supposedly “inescapable” kennels such as impact crate but it was also so much cheaper and of much
better quality. With this material and perfect size of the kennel I don’t have to worry about my Icelandic sheepdog/ Collie mix hurting himself trying to do the deed unlike with metal of other kennel brands. My Dakota 283 is built out of one solid piece of material and high quality steel locking components that make up the door. It also comes with keys to lock the door if necessary and a check list hand signed by employee to make sure that each individual component to the kennel is upheld to company standards. I would highly recommend this kennel brand to anybody looking for a good kennel. Look no further. You will not be disappointed!

After months of research, I am so happy that I placed my order with Dakota Kennels! I have 2, 11 month old Great Pyrenees sisters that stand 27 inches tall at the shoulder and weight just a little over 100lbs each. Both of my pups immediately took to loading with no fuss in the XL Kennels in their vibrant pink and purple color scheme. 🙂 I was thrilled to see that both kennels are true in measurement and sit side-by-side in my truck bed with about 1″ to spare on each side. Their weight, even empty, keeps them securely seated on the rubber stall mat I keep in the bed of my truck. Delivery was via Fedex and both boxes showed up undamaged with the kennels well protected inside. (Note – This was a major sway factor as a competitor I researched wanted to charge me $411 in shipping through a small no-name shipping company. Please note that if you are ordering multiple kennels at once, the boxes may show up on different days as the tracking number doesn’t necessarily specify to the driver how many boxes are attached to that one number.)
The door and slam latch are much sturdier than I originally thought they would be although my girls aren’t in the habit of challenging doors either so I can’t speak for their true strength with a dog that has crating concerns. The length and width of the kennels is sufficient to keep them comfortable on longer drives while giving them a wee bit of extra room to keep filling out as they mature.
It’s worth mentioning too that the customer service at Dakota has been phenomenal. There were some technical system issues with my order and I received a call from Dakota advising of the problem and next steps all before I even realized something had gone wrong. It’s rare these days to get a personal call from a business and talk to someone who is genuinely apologetic for the inconvenience and wants to help get your purchase back on track. Hands down I recommend Dakota to any other large-breed weekend travelers!

Having a Belgian malinois that’s able to work his way out of EVERY kennel we’ve had, he’s finally met his match. Spacious and he warmed up to it right away. Great quality. I won’t get any other kind of kennel again. Customer for life.

I love this crate. It is very sturdy, roomy and I love the slam close door feature. I love that the crate locks and it feels very safe for my dogs at dog shows. However, I do wish it had back vents for better airflow.
